RN-270/274
- FireFly-BP Serial Adapter with AAA Batteries
- Part#: RN-270M, RN-270F, RN-274M

Roving Networks' FireFly-BP is the world's smallest, lightest, and most capable Class 1 Bluetooth serial adapter. The Firefly-BP is available in two driver options: The RN-270, a Bluetooth serial adapter to RS232, and the RN-274M, a Bluetooth serial adapter to RS422. The RN-270 is available with either male or female connectors (RN-270M or RN-270F).
There are three ways to utilize the FireFly BP:
1. Direct to a Bluetooth client: The client creates a SPP connection to the unit and uses a virtual COM style interface. Data is sent and received on the client exactly as if a serial cable was connected to a real COM port on the client.
2. Cable replacement: Pair two FireFly, Blueport XP, or RN-USB-X dongles with simple dip switches.
3. Master mode: The FireFly is configured to connect out over Bluetooth into a remote client, an access point, or a Bluetooth server.
Roving Networks also now offers several development kits for the FireFly-BP line of serial adapters. The RN-270M-K and the RN-270F-K are Bluetooth to RS232 serial adapter kits. The RN-270M-K and the RN-270F-K includes the male or female serial adapter and a power cable. Roving Networks also offers the RN-274M-K, a development kit for the RN-274M. It includes the Bluetooth to RS422 adapter with male connector and a power cable. These all-inclusive starter kits are perfect for developers looking to cut down on development time.
